masbrolass
I used to work at the Rotherham branch from 1970. Pay was £4 15s 11d as a junior and you got 6d commission in the pound for a sale. I loved it there especially when they turned part of it into a boutique. Best mates Hazel and Leah.
Puffin4
I remember the Rotherham branch. During the mid 1950's I worked for Initial Towel Supplies on a delivery van, during the school holidays. Van Allens was one of my drops and I always found time for a fag and a chat with some of the younger girls. Mike
Plain Talker
I remember the Sheffield branch, just below where Boots is now. I used to buy my "biba" cosmetics from there.

I remember the Biba cosmetics shop - those glittery eyeshadows in the long tubes were all the rage!! Can't remember the Sheffield Van Allens, but do remember the Boston one.
