Recommended Posts

Firefighters have criticised the actions of a man who needed to be rescued after climbing 40 feet up Sheffield’s Big Wheel on Fargate.

The man scaled the attraction at around 4am on Saturday but called for help after realising he couldn’t get back down.

Around 15 firefighters, two fire engines, an Aerial Ladder Platform, the Technical Rescue Unit and an Incident Support Unit were called to the scene. It took crews over an hour to safely rescue the man, in his 30s.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene.
