Kowalski are Sheffield's newest and most exciting rock n roll band. The illegitimate offspring of The Jam and Manic Street Preachers, Kowalski combine the soulful Northern rage of The Verve with the juggernaut riffs of Oasis. Kowalski are... Vocals - Paul Russell (Michael Caine meets Jarvis Cocker after four nights in curry houses and strip clubs). Guitar - Dan Fell (Jonny Marr and Will Sergeant obsessive all dressed up in silk scarves, chelsea boats and a perpetual bad mood). Bass - Chris 'Harry' Harrison (Mani from the Stone Roses if he had a predilection for cheese, real ale and military jackets). Drums - Jack Smith (Rick Buckler meets the man who would be Moon the Loon meets anyone else who doesn't understand that you just don't play lead drums dear boy). Kowalski sing the songs you always wanted your favourite band to write, they sing of love lost and hatred found, of the joy you felt when your kid was born and the sadness you felt when your first love died, the anger you felt when a so called friend let you down, and the whisky fuelled excitement of a night lashed on a corrupt town. Kowalski are your band, they know how it feels when your team loses ten games on the bounce, they know what it is to get lucky with the girl of your dreams, and what it is to drink your weight in beer and crawl to work the next day with a hangover made of razor blades. Kowalski are four twenty-something guys that walked into a bar and came out with the best idea for a band there ever was. They said wouldn't it be great if someone crossed Primal Scream with The Smiths and so it was. Paul, Dan, Harry and Jack, Northern Souls one and all, rock and soul like their lives depend on it. With years of gigging living behind them they won't let you down and they won't sell you out. With leather jackets and Italian shoes galore, Kowalski will swagger into your life and bury their songs deep inside your head. With songs like ‘All Good Men', ‘Slow' and ‘All Dressed Up' Kowalski will move your feet and set up camp in your soul. Kowalski will knock you out with a psychedelic rocker like ‘Magpie' in the evening and then kiss you better with a lovelorn ballad like ‘Delicate' in the morning. They will make you start a riot with ‘A Way of Life' one day and then heal your battle scarred wounds the next with a pretty little tune like ‘Hold On'.
