Guest
The Brunswick, a very popular pub in it's day. Used to have the Piano playing every lunchtime and was usually pretty full. Had some good times in there.

Guest
did the brunswick have rotating doors .? No, not that I can remember, but the pub which was at the top of Commercial Street did - just round the corner from Fitzalan square, opposite where the Supertram stop is now. Can't remember the name of that pub just at the moment - it had a snooker room with a full size snooker table.
Kidorry
anyone remember the name of the pub that was across from where wilkinsons is now I think the Brunswick was at the bottom of King Street and the one opposite Wilkinsons was called the double Six or something like that.Next to Davys. DUFFEMS
Donkeys' years ago I believe it was the "Old No.12".
hillsbro
Here's a photo of the Brunswick; it was just below the corner of King Street. At one time, the "Old No 12" was either on the same site or nearby, but that was before my time, honest it was...

At one time, the "Old No 12" was either on the same site or nearby, but that was before my time, honest it was... But, not before mine, my uncle used to be landlord in the 1950's, I spent many happy hours there (when it was closed of course!). Spending my childhood in the Old No.12 and the Rotherham House must have had a lasting effect on me as I don't drink any alcohol, can't bear the smell of tobacco either. beechnut
On a 1954 map, the Old No 12 is shown at No 25 Haymarket, which is directly opposite Wilkinsons. The Brunswick Hotel was a little further up at Nos. 13-15.
