My grandma told us about the prophylactics that were issued to married couples into the 1950s, which were as thick as anything, and they were re-usable. She said they were awful, and very offputting, and not at all sensitive like the lambskin. Apparently, legend has it that my dad and his brother found my grandparents' supply in the bedside cabinet, and they were blowing them up like balloons and throwing them out of the window.
