Nat Johnson & The Figureheads (Damaged Goods)

http://www.natjohnson.co.uk/

Nat and her friends and players are not doing too badly for themselves having been snapped up by legendary label DAMAGED GOODS!

NAT JOHNSON is the former singer, songwriter and guitarist of Monkey Swallows the Universe. Her debut solo single, 'Dirty Rotten Soul' was released in September 2008. Since then, she has put together a band operating under the name of "The Figureheads".

One of The Figureheads (Kevin Gori - Guitar) should be familiar to fans of Monkey Swallows the Universe. Kev and Nat have been playing music together since 2003. The Figureheads are completed by Chris Loftus (bass), who has previously played with Fury of the Headteachers, and Neil Piper (drums), who also drums for Champion Kickboxer.

Having recently signed to Damaged Goods, Nat Johnson and the Figureheads released their debut album, "Roman Radio", on October 19th 2009. This was preceded by a double A side single, "Wonderful Emergency / Don't Worry Baby", on October 5th 2009.

"Gorgeous vocals" - The Guardian

"Nat Johnson's at times vaguely Smiths-like melodies and beautiful, Tracey Thornesque voice..." - The Times

"Nat Johnson has a lovely winsome voice, but one undercut with a genuine melancholy as it picks it way through always thoughtful and cleverly expressed songs" - Sounds XP

"Nat Johnson has a voice that can do withering as well as whimsical" - NME

"Astonishingly engaging songwriting" - Sandman Magazine

"(Monkey Swallows the Universe's) biggest gift is the sweet, fragile, alluring voice of Nat" - The Sun

In support Nat's bringing along All the Damn Kids.

Future Perfect Radio

''The UK group plays energetic, fun-loving and synth-drenched tracks that at times reference both My Bloody Valentine and Maximo Park. If these kids aren't signed in a year, there's no justice in the world.''

BBC Sheffield

''Top new band coming through.''

Sheffield Music Scene Magazine

''The perfect indie pop sound.''

Turn up the sound (NY)

''If Spoon and Panic At The Disco had a baby, and Razorlight and Klaxons had a baby. The two babies grew up, fell in love and had a child. That child would be All The Damn Kids. All of their songs are full of electronic/pop/rock fun....the perfect summer band. Lighthearted and jam-packed with catchy beats, be sure to have a listen to All The Damn Kids now to kick off your summer.''

Forge Radio

''The lead singer has a soft, indyfied voice which resonates high above the flowing guitars and synth, which gel well, whilst the drummer holds the band together. They certainly have a few stories to tell. A solid live act too, damn polite bunch of guys! Give them a listen now, you won't be disappointed.''
