anarchist
A long way behind our contemporaries and still officially in recession. Australia - Never entered recession France - Out of recession Germany - Out of recession United Kingdom - In recession United States of America - Out of recession Japan - Out of recession Italy - Out of recession Even the likes of Slovakia are now out of Recession. Indeed the Eurozone as a whole is out of recession, but of course they don't have Brown in charge.
Vague_Boy
The irony in your "economic catastrophe" statement isn't lost. Personally, if I were the Boy Cameron, I'd be doing everything I could NOT to get elected. Which is what he seems to be doing. My personal prediction, for what it's worth, is that the economic crisis has not been averted, merely postponed. Whoever gets in power in 2010 is going to be winning the booby prize of all time. LibertyBell
Polls are quite often wrong. Not often but sometimes and there is always a margin of error. Howwever, I think that a hung parliament is now back on the cards.(3-1 at bookies)

Grandad.Malky
Spending cuts, increase retiring age and increase tax or VAT but more money for businesses sounds like a great manifesto.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that over the last three decades our politicians (Labour and Tory) have structured so much of our economy around the service industry, and especially banking? Back in the old days, we used to make things, now we are a nation of hairdressers and call centre workers (no offence if you are one - you're doing a grand job)
