Things are looking up for Detune, folks…..

Lots of movin’ (and shakin’) on all fronts, but first up – November’s DETUNE has yet another sumptuous lineup to tempt you away from those cosy living rooms – agog in snuggledom you may be, but wishing away those dark, wintry nights and yearning for something that little bit different may not be as far away as Spring, OH no……!

Why not embrace the Winter and make the most of it’s divinity? It’s wild, rugged, bite? It’s fevered, domineering snap? It’s stifling blanket of enforced hibernation?

For lo, Detune has answered your prayers, and can help you join forces with Mother Earth’s fiercest seasonal adversary, to celebrate the interregnum of days twixt the Equinox and the Winter Solstice! Nothing like talking it up a bit, eh?

Yes, there is life other than Fake Factor, Strictly Appalling, & Katie & Pete go fishing in the Sahara…..

We’re proud to welcome back Baker St’s JACOB to Detune - this, his first time at the Rockshots venue, catches Jacob mid-tour on the back of his latest release – ‘Gems’ EP.

Leeds based Baker Street Recordings turn to label co-owner Jacob for the fourth installment on their new series of digital-exclusive releases. With recent artists on Baker Street including Sasse, Demarkus Lewis, Hector Moralez, Bang Bang, Paul Hardy and Neil Bainbridge, the label are currently up there with the very best the UK deep house scene has to offer. The quality persists here on ‘Gems EP’ with Jacob’s two warm, chugging, deep originals complimented by remixes by the currently white-hot Moodymanc (2020 Soundsystem/Dubble D) and Lil Mark.

Half of the prolific recording duo ‘Holmes and Watz’ with Paul Hardy, Jacob is also a regular at Back2Basics in Leeds, and lined up with the great Derrick Carter earlier in the year.

Famously hassled by a punter who recognised his picture in the Derbyshire Times, Jacob was terribly hungover & trying to get some kip whilst we were setting up in the afternoon at The Green Room 3 years ago, but managed to repel his inquisitor, and went on later to dazzle the crowd with a quality set of deep grooves that cemented his place in Detune history.

Matlock’s minimal magician – LEE ANTHONY – might mention “monkeys” if you asked him what were to come inbetween Jacob and a Purple Gorilla on the night’s evolutionary scale, but never one to self-deprecate, and appreciating that opening sentence was for comedic allitoratory purposes only, Lee – the architect of cutting-edge Underground nights Wobble & Wendy House - can be counted on to pull a wedgey on the hackneyed and crass undertakings elsewhere in C-town, and serve up a slice of the sublime!

Our resident Bananaman - JONNY G - has come on in leaps & bounds since establishing eclectic night Purple Gorilla at Rockshots with Kev Mac & Zaphino. Pounding his chest to the beat of Detune has always been near the top of Jonny’s agenda too, and he has a knack for eating Bananas just at the right time between green & brown (yellow, then??). Come down early (you’ll get in free before half 10 for a start!), and help Jonny swing from the trees and celebrate his Birthday – this is a ‘Purple Gorillas (Not To Be) In The Mist’ (see what I did there?)

We’ve got some great footage of the 6th Birthday bash back in May with Inland Knights & Inbetween DJ’s (and YOU!) for the upcoming DETUNE DVD, but with such a cracking lineup next week, and something extra special planned for the Christmas Detune Party on Saturday 19th December too, we’re gonna shoot some more, folks! You’ve gotta be in to get on it, so get yersen’s down to Chesterfield’s Original Underground House night – DETUNE – at Rockshots (just off Saltergate), and you’ll not be disappointed……

Cheers,

Aaron
