Why do disabled badge holders get free parking?

Recommended Posts

If I may say.

As far as I believe, the blue badge is supplied for the disadvantaged to park nearer where they need to be.

That is true, I know this is an old thread that's been raised so to speak & Carmen not a dig at you but why do people begrudge disabled people things like this.

I can never understand petty jealously of this nature, all these people that think it's a bowl of cherries being disabled come & be me for a day.:rant:

What I don't understand is why they are entitled to park on double yellow lines. I mean, surely the double yellow lines are there for a reason and if not, why can't everyone else park on them?

Surely, if we are going to be logical. anyone that has a blue badge is likely to take longer getting out of their car, and be more of a danger to passing vehicles.

The free aspect is all wrong, its assuming that they do not get enough in allowances, so just raise the allowance.

Blue badges (or orange, as they were) were introduced to help people with disabilities get closer to living a normal life which does include shopping, as well as all other aspects of life.

What other reasons can you think of that they would exist?

Well none. Like you said they are to help disabled people live a more normal life. This i know. That other poster suggested the badges were only for shopping. That is wrong.

I have a Blue Badge. My specialists told me to get one, as well as Mobility and DLA to help me get at least some quality of life. I would gladly exchange it for good health and the active life I used to enjoy. Free parking is a great help, it makes the money go further but not all local authorities allow it. The comments on this thread really show the nasty mentality of certain people towards the disabled. To all of you 'knockers', enjoy your health while it lasts. Tomorrow may bring you something you don't want.

because all disabilities are visible ;) you can see my angina, (I think I ought to wear less revealing clothes! lol, LOL ) and you can see my pacemaker!

I can now see why you were so irritable with me. You have a disability which I suppose makes you a bit off colour. In future I will make allowances when dealing with you.

Could you be any more patronising and derogatory?

Maybe? If you tried a little harder?

He was trying harder last night on the Britain First thread. He obviously has some boundaries though as he did delete his "raghead" comment after a few folks objected.

So. Yes. He can be more derogatory.
