Raspigaous (http://www.myspace.com/raspigaous) are a French Reggae & Ska group from Marseille who are known to only a handful of people outside of France. This is an incredible shame as they are a brilliant group who deserve a lot more international recognition and praise. So, early in 2007, a group of Manchester musicians decided to pay homage to them, firstly to introduce their music to the British public, and secondly to play some awesome tunes.

 

Skamel, a sextet of jazz musicians, play a handful of instrumental arrangements of Raspigaous tunes as well as a number of original compositions and arrangements of various other tunes including a jazz standard or two, all heavily influenced by their love of jazz and free music, but still skanked up to the max.
