There’s just enough time to squeeze in one last party before Christmas and New Year consumes us all….. and what a belter it is. We welcome back the biggest party machine of the year – ANNIE MAC PRESENTS… Headlining is the first lady of electronic music Annie herself, alongside some of the finest hand picked guests around. BOY 8-BIT, RITON, TODDLA T and DELPHIC (Live) all join in the fun.

Annie has ousted Mr Pete Tong from his position as the official Radio 1 start to the weekend with her 7pm Friday night slot. Joining all the dots between house, techno, drum and bass and dubstep on her show her DJ sets are much of the same. Huge party anthem after anthem locks the dancefloor into the groove from start to finish. She brings the house down every time she plays at Plug, and this is going to be no exception.

Boy 8-Bit also joins her for another set at Shuffle. The dude is on fire at the moment, churning out massive remix after massive remix. His latest mix of Miike Snow is smashing it across the globe, add to that his monstrous take on La Roux’s Quciksand and his own Baltic Pine EP and you’ve got a man on top of his game. His DJs are stuff of legend. Do not miss.

Riton will also be throwing down some tunes. A DJ and Producer who’s known for his awesomely wonky take on house music (just check his remix of Wolfmother’s new tune – what’s that all about?) he’ll be bringing a bag full of fresh 4/4 beats to interest and amaze the masses.

Toddla T will need no introduction, seeing as he’s the hottest thing to come out of Sheffield for some time now. Bashment/Ragga/Garage/Bassline it’s all in there in a wonderful mash-up of styles. His DJ sets are a bass heavy journey through it all, everybody bounce!

Adding the live angle to proceedings and completing this beast of a line-up are the Delphic lads. Hotter than hot right now it’s an honour to have them play at Plug before the competition latch on to their greatness. Get your hands in the air for this euphoric journey through electronica.

Fri 18 Dec//Reflective//Xmas Classics

Fri 18th Dec 2009

Doors: 10.30 pm

Price: £5.00

Age: 18+

Sheffield has always been at the heart of the bassline scene. Whilst the country turned its back on UK Garage at the turn of the nineties there were certain hotspots that refused to let it die. Along with Birmingham and certain suburbs of the capital, the Steel City was representing week in week out for those who still loved their dance music infused with that little more bass alongside the vocals. People who didn't want to let their sound disappear, keeping alive the interest in bassline house.

And now the media, and the dance music community in itself, is falling in love with it all again. Reflective has been rinsing it week in week out for aeons. When people turned their noses up at it,they still packed the clubs out, when magazines stopped reviewing the tunes, they were still delivering them to energetic floors. It's down to pioneers like reflective who kept the flame burning for the bassline hungry clubbers. Run by the city's longstanding Reflex Records, they've always had an inside view on what the city has been purchasing, what's making their feet move, which is why they've always retained such a fervent support even when others had thought the sound had disappeared.

The main event at every Reflective show is Martin Leverton, the charismatic front for the Sheffield scene and the owner of the Reflex. The scene's figurehead, his super smooth mixing combines with microphone patter to create an unstoppable party vibe. This insider knowledge guarantees a complete level of up-to-date musical knowledge, which when coupled with an archaic sense of history for the scene means he can effortlessly slip from upfront promos to good time classics.

Alongside Leverton each event the finest in talent, both MCs, DJs and a stunning set of live PAs, showcases the scene in all its glory. Add to this an unrelenting door strategy to combat any signs of attitude, and it's one of the most enjoyable and heart warming clubbing experiences in the UK.

Thurs 17 Dec//Rifle Alley + Izzie Voodoo + Socrates Johnson + Dynamite Victim

iZZiE Voodoo...

A name that sticks in your head. A name that came out of the mouth of the mate of a girl who went to great lengths to ignore all musical trend and go her own way- and said because he felt that what he had heard had cast a spell - and that she had created her own musical form of voodoo- Izzie voodoo.

iZZiE's music conjures something that stays effervescing in your head in a pop induced frenzy for days, tantalizing your musical tastebuds with flavours from electronica to electro through dance into rock and even Goth with a buzz of industrial and a tinge of something sparkly from the 80's. Her live performances with her established band are tight and polished with added visuals, not a boring item of clothing in sight , delivered with as much determination and vibrance as you might expect from someone who is also steeped in Martial Arts and theatre.

Some of the songs from last year’s highly acclaimed album, (described by journalists as ‘slickly delivered rock electronica’; ‘modern fire with 80s electro, laced with punk energy and pop seasoning’; and ...an exhilarating and electrifying outing from this visionary digital experimentalist’ ) appear in the current live set (the highly popular 'Pyromania', the 2007 Song of the Year award winner, 'Sound', and occasionally the spine chillingly vivid 'Dry Heat') ; but iZZiE’s soon to be released electronica wild card ‘Control Freak’ (which snatched an early nomination into this year’s Song of the Year before it was even out of the studio) takes it by storm.

Vixen101.co.uk are reported as describing iZZiE as ‘very savvy and proactive. Very professional with great music’

Socrates Johnson

are a dual - guitar acoustic blues rock act who turn many heads.' 'Their sound to me was a bit of rock n roll with a blusey twist (you could say a cross between Tom petty and Neil Young).' 'Socrates are able to offer something a little fresher on the current underground scence and are definitely worth a look.' 'They strummed and harmonised like West Coast veterans' 'If you closed your eyes it could be Big Pink in '68.'
