DerbyTup
It's a few months since I went to Jewel, but my thoughts then were that it was pretty good, but not as good as Akbars. And if I am going to drive over that end of the city then I may as well stay in the car for another couple of mile and go to Akbars on Meadow View road and have a really delicious Indian meal, (love the tandoori fish starters), for not a lot of money. The other thing about Jewel was that it was incredibly depressing inside, with black wallpaper as I recall? Maybe they've changed that now? If so, I might go back and give it another go. Techtomic
went last night to the little india this time it was early but 12 people in and the phone never stopped for takeaways,i had the chicken with mince dish with plain rice, and a very crispy plain nan and tarka dall very nice not rushed, and with coffee.we really enjoyed it,also its nice to be asked if we wanted a top up coffee on the house, also they have just put out the new menu dishes ,but we stuck to to dishes we had not had for a while, ali was saying they now open 7 days so if you like it a bit more on the quite side ..........midweek is better ps tram stops at town end 2mins walk away We live a 5 minute walk away from Little India, it was our favourite in the area but didn't answer the phone when we tried to order a couple of weekends ago. Driving past this week it appears to have been replaced by a pizza & kebab house, such a shame, the other Indians that deliver around here have gravy style dishes and rice filled with fluorescent particles

solarjim
Hi all just to let you all nkow we had a nice tasty indian meal at the shapla on cumberland street, I had a special with methi leaves and lentils in it and it was nice and spicey. I have got into the herb fenugreek lately and am growing this herb myself as well as taking it in capsule form it has many amazing health benefits for men and women. You can do a search on youtube or elsewhere. The leaves from the plant that go into indian cooking are called methi leaves which I have only just discovered. It is known for helping to control blood sugar levels so those who are diabetic may find it helpful. Give it a go !
kyor1524
Mangla which is at Spital Hill on the Wicker near the big new Tesco and pure gym it is amazing you get so much for your money. I have been going for years you get free poppadoms and pickle tray for starters and you can bring your own alcohol which makes it perfect for a cheap night out and the quality of food is amazing highly recommend it. ---------- Post added 28-09-2014 at 12:15 ---------- Has anyone tried Spice Story? (Where Daarbar used to be at Hillsborough) Spice story have started doing a lunch time buffet for £5.99 I think as well as being open evenings. It has only been open a few weeks so I haven't been yet but Daarbars was so nice.

A favourite venue for leaving / retirement do's in our work. If I survive thus far, it will be my venue of choice also.
