Free laptops and broadband for poor families!

Recommended Posts

Lots of rural places have no broadband...do you think dial-up will suffice...? Or are there no poor families in the countryside?

Care to name any?

95% of the UK now has access to broadband.

Across the UK as a whole, the statistics show there is a greater proportion of households with high-speed internet access in the countryside than in built-up areas:

I can't actually find any stories in the last few years about rural areas being left behind, it looks like broadband is available pretty much across the entire country.

hmmmmmmmm just been looking at the elibility criteria to get one

http://www.homeaccess.org.uk/Information-for-parents/

you need 3 yes's from the first part and 1 from the 2nd part.

Well i ticked all 3 in the first part but was stumped by this bit

• Child Tax Credit but not Working Tax Credit and an income of less than £16,040

we get child tax credit, and we earn less than 16.000 (in fact its more like 11.500 BUT!!! i get working tax credit so im not elible :(

Just when you think the labour government can't sink any lower, it's now deciding it's going to give away free laptops and broadband connections to families who can't be bothered to work for a living.

So once again we working people who work hard to pay for our own laptops and broadband end up subsidising those families who can't be bothered to work.

Who decided that having a laptop and internet connection was an essential anyway? Most of these families will only use it for playing games and looking at porn and the kids won't get a look in!

Another £300 million of taxpayers money wasted!

Completely with you on this one Gordon Bennet
