Free laptops and broadband for poor families!

Recommended Posts

I look forward to the government ensuring the work shy and benefit brigade have access to the most expensive Land Rover and for summer, a Ferrari and are able to ditch the 20 year old Cavalier.

Equality eh?

Not that it matters; they'll be gone and history come summer.

Turn the light out Brown and Darling.

Well yes, but I'd like to see you enforce that.

Perhaps a better policy for the labore party would be to bring in benefit cards, that restrict the ways in which benefits are paid. Only allowing the purchase of essential items, of which you agree broadband may be, but not Sky.

Or perhaps we could check and see if any of the households due to benefit from 'free' laptops have a sky subscription as part of the rollout process. If they do, then no laptop to put on ebay for them...

Ok... so if you got sacked/ made redundant ect... and you had to go on jsa or another form of benefit you wouldn't be glad of free internet and a free computer/laptop? you wouldn't be complaining then would you? no. I think theres way to many 2 faced people out there. Most people on benefits at the moment have had to due to been made redundant, layed of, ect... My partner is one of those. I like it that the fact they can assume things without getting some facts first... people are to easy to judge and think that everyone on benefits are people who DON'T want to work infact 80% of people on benefits are actively seeking work everyday, taking anything whats available! Its not that easy at the moment as most will know. so spare a thought as you never know you may find your self on benefits one day...

What does any of that have to do with giving kids free laptops?

I suppose your partner will be wanting taxpayers to buy him a 4x4 as well so he can get to the jobcentre to sign on when the weather's bad?

Perhaps if he went to the jobcentre more often he would see that the jobcentre run courses for long term unemployed people where they can have access to computers and the internet all day to go jobhunting and learn skills - eg how to write a CV.

As others have picked up on, no matter how poor you are you can use the internet at your local library for free. You can also learn IT skills at your local college, or if your child attends school they'll have access to the internet there.

So why some silly vote-grabbing scheme to give poor families free broadband at home as well as all this?

Nothing like exaggerating to justify such a myopic view of class divide.

This goverment doesnt do things out of kindness,If you have no computer then they cant spy on you.

Then theres the Internet tax, wouldny you want as many people on it as possible.

What ever the reason you can guarantee theres profit worked out somewhere along the line.

But its only free for a year.

Perhaps all employers should introduce complete bans on any unauthorised internet access to the shirkers sorry workers.

Children who its aimed for betwen 7 and 11 can't go to college. IT classes are timetabled so are restrictive. All of which you know but choose to ignore.
