HAPPY NEW YEAR! We're pleased to announce that the Folkin' Sheffield and the Green Room will be continuing their partnership into 2010! So that means...more brand-new acoustic musicians showcased for FREE in one of the Steel City's very own musical gems; the Green Room, more exciting new folk and roots based players from Sheffield and beyond (we have BIG plans) and a top night of good music, good beer and good fun!

So kicking off 2010 we have:

-ANDREW DUXFIELD

http://www.myspace.com/andrewduxfield

"Sheffield's growing strength in acoustic blues and folk musicians has been reinforced once again by the emergence of Andrew Duxfield. The Blues Theatre Script guitar player has played a series of shows in Sheffield in the later part of 2008 and has established himself as a man with one of the finest touches on the roots circuit, an impressive trait fortified by his honest, simple yet charming voice." Myspace review, NOW THEN., issue 11.

"A Sheffield master of folk and blues numbers with an exceptional guitar style, bringing a dynamic sensibility rarely heard outside classical playing to a blend of covers and original instrumentals." Live review, NOW THEN., issue 11.

"Andy Duxfield was predictably on form, winding up a weekend of music, dancing and (patchy) sunshine with tunes of almost super-human dexterity." Live Review, NOW THEN., issue 17.

-DAN SPENCE

Former bass player to Giraffe, The New Black and Alex Kid. First solo album 'My Wasted Days' recorded in 2003, followed by mini-E.P. '20/20' in 2004. Now gigging solo after a 3-year musical hiatus. Described as "haunting" following November 2009 comeback gig. New album due in 2010! Plus more dates at the Green Room in January and February. Watch this space.

-BENJAMIN UNDERWOOD

"Inspired by the paintings of Doig, the poetry of Larkin, the taste of longley farm yogurts and the out of phase setting on a fender strat I set out to make these tunes. Along with the beautiful tones of the BOSS BE-5M I made them."

-PLUS...very special guests!
