Plain Talker
Link to a picture hope it works http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s07123 So, looking at the buildings in the picture, this pub would have been roughly where the bBig 1950s/ 60s looking Barclays bank building is now? lazarus
It was the Kings Head and it was a Higsons house, a Liverpool Brewery that owned it. It was one of only two pubs in Sheffield that had revolving doors the other being the Athol on the corner of Charles St & Pinstone St, the Athol is still there but its a slot machine arcade but you can still see the name over the back entrance on Burgess St. Oh yes there was a Pianist in there playing a Grand Piano at the week-ends.
