gingerpuss
Does anyone have memories of the (now demolished) Howard Hotel, Walkley - near the lane to Birkendale View? Or even a picture of it?

gingerpuss
Thank you for this hint - I found a terrific picture of the Howard Hotel, and a clever person had turned the photo into an oil painting - couldn't have asked for better! dafodil
I think it was damaged by High Winds and had to be demolished.
jimbo2107
I thought it was subsidence which brought it down, if I remember correctly a lot of it was found in st Joseph's school playground.
linda 1
I think dafodil is right it was the high winds that damaged it,I was going to St josephs school at the time, my grandmother was the cleaner as well as the piano player, this was the end of her job there and so she then cleaned at the walkley cottage pub and played the piano at the crown pub, and i do remember her and my parents talking about the storm damage to the pub
