FOLKIN' SHEFFIELD XX...

03.02.2009

FOLKIN' SHEFFIELD returns! This week we have five wonderful acts!

8.50-9.00 - MONIKA LANGWALD (Saxony, GERMANY)

Coming from the heart of Saxony in Germany is Monika Langwald. Her first Folkin' Sheffield appearance! She has been a regular at Folkin' Sheffield nights and will, for the first time, share some of her own compositions with us tonight. Come along and hear her stuff!

9.10-9.40 - GAZ (DEATH BY LILO)

Gaz came and played for us a while ago and we were mightily impressed, so asked him back. A great voice and a sound selection of modern ballads, Gaz is definitely worth a listen.

9.45-10.15 - SAM CUTTING (Manchester)

http://www.myspace.com/samcuttingmusic

A former Sheffield resident and now relocated across the Pennines, Sam is an extremely talented solo performer. Fantastic guitar work and upbeat, rootsy tunes make him a great songsmith.

10.20-10.40 - ANDREW DUXFIELD

http://www.myspace.com/andrewduxfield

Andy is without a doubt one of Sheffield's top acoustic musicians. An absolute master of acoustic blues guitar playing, he brings his own adaptations of old blues texts and classic folk rags to his set. The musical cherry on the cake, is of course his deep mellow voice.

10.45-end - BENJAMIN UNDERWOOD

http://www.myspace.com/benjaminunderwood

Ben is a regular at Folkin' Sheffield nights. Malian-style guitar work, combined with soft, pensive songs a la Elliot Smith. Up there with the more innovative of the Sheffield acoustic music scene.

FREE ENTRY.
