Quinn Whalley as so many of you commented was amazing, playing his unique blend of jacking house music, look out for more releases forthcoming with Different Gear as well his Paranoid London project throughout 2010… In our quest to bring you the finest DJ and production talent from across the world of house, from soulful to deep, via tech and jacking flavours, we have a very exciting DJ schedule lined up for the coming months as well as plans to bring you some very special outdoor events, as the weather gets warmer, watch this space ! For March’s episode of Act Like Ya Know, we bring you a very special guest indeed. US DJ/Producer, Demarkus Lewis has been producing his trademark tech house and soulful house sound for some time. I guarantee that all you DJ types out there will have a least one piece of wax or MP3 containing either a Demarkus Lewis production or remix in the collection. We’re very excited about this one and know some of you already are! Along with are residents Desi Rocca and David Hardy, expect deep, soulful house music ALL NIGHT LONG… For just under a decade Demarkus Lewis has released over 100 singles and remixes. He has kept true to his roots in the underground sound whether it be deep soulful house or the heaviest of techno/tech outings. Known for his ability to go deep while maintaing the energy to keep the dancefloors mobbing, he has proven to be a diverse artist. It all began in the summer months of 1990 when he was first introduced to dance music. Soon Demarkus began learning to DJ by blending everything he could get his hands on from Front 242 to 808 State to The Cure and even the more popular rap acts of the era like Chubb Rock and Special ED. From the beginning it had always seemed to be his passion to create different moods with sound. The year 2000 marks Demarkus signing his first record deal with Swerve Records. Since then, his name has appeared on several labels such as End Recordings, Slip n Slide, Low Down, Siesta Music, Large Music, Shack Recordings, Black Vinyl, Kapa Music, Nightshift Records, Brique Rouge, Robsoul, and Conya Records just to name a few. His music has also been featured on several dance music compilations including Seamless Recordings' Bargrooves series, DJ Mag's 'DJ Face Off' cd comp, Mark Farina's 'Live at Om' compilation on Om records, Slip n Slide presents Ibiza and Roger Sanchez' Release Yourself. In 2005 Demarkus launched Grin Music as his home base label. Grin began as a deep house label while now, 3 years later, it has morphed into a blend of house and techno. Alongside housing some of his own productions, Grin has featured artists such as Chicago's Gene Farris, Timmy Vegas of Soul Central and DBR aka Rhythm Slaves. As a DJ with over 18 years experience , Lewis has performed in venues like Stompy (San Francisco) Club Rayo (Argentina), Metro Bass (Rotterdam), Silo (Belgium), H20 (Belgium), The Office (Republic of Georgia), Propaganda (Moscow), Neighborhood (London) and Tresor (Berlin) to name a few. Look out for more original productions and remixes throughout 2010… And to add a little extra to the proceedings downstairs all night long we bring the formidable duo... Chris Moore & Paul Growns (BIO/Cargo) Chris & Paul are known for playing right across the house spectrum, from low-slung slow grooves through to jackin' tech-house - they love house music and love playing their records to folks who like dancing. Between them they've supported the likes of Inland Knights, Subb-an, Rhythm Plate, Slum Science, Trentmoller & Clive Henry to name but a few and on this occasion we've roped them in to do their finest deep house turn downstairs in the bar.
