Wider in scope and execution than its predecessor (2007's Remember To Smile), Shoreline harbours a grand palette of raw, affecting songs and subtle, multi-layered arrangements. McSweeney's debut single 'Postcards', released by London-based label KIDS in 2007, struck a nerve with all who came across it and won national radio play and press plaudits. His debut album Remember To Smile was similarly well received and so too were his live shows; Guardian critic Dave Simpson awarding Neil a four star review for a solo set upstairs in a Sheffield boozer. With his full band in tow, McSweeney’s set ranges from delicate, finger-picked balladry, through dark, brooding country to Velvets-esque rock’n’roll. With a couple of recent high-profile support slots for Richard Hawley under his belt and his new album gaining momentum this promises to be a special evening.
