FRIDAY 5TH MARCH

THE HARLEY

10PM-3AM (at least)

TAX: £3 (FREE B4 11!)

So we're back round to March again, celebrating one full year of RD at the Harley as we flee the tail-end of the British winter. Huge thanks to the ram-jammed crowd who had to be evicted from the dancefloor at the end of the February event, an hour after we were supposed to shut things down – and if you're one of those still reeling from just how good Ben UFO and Doc Daneeka were, we've got the tonic for you...

As co-founder of the Night Slugs party and label, there are few fresher individuals on the planet right now than Alex "Bok Bok" Sushon. Along with compadres like L-Vis 1990, Mosca, Brackles and Jam City, he sits at the forefront of the UK's current explosion in genre-smashing, floor-destroying dance music. Not content with helming the rather on-point Lower End Spasm blog, and djing both solo and b2b with the likes of Oneman, Kingdom, Jackmaster and main sparring partner Manara, 2009 saw Alex ramp it up and knock out several of the years's deadliest tracks. These included his own "Ripe Banana” and ”NNTF”, plus a massive refix (alongside L-Vis) of Crazy Cousinz' "Bongo Jam". 2010 promises a further slew of hot 'Slugs releases worth keeping ears peeled for...

If this is tickling your fancy, cop a listen to one of the sweet salvo of mixtapes Bok Bok's been firing out for the likes of Mad Decent, Lucky Me, Discobelle, Vice, FACT and Trash Menagerie. They call this sound hyper-bass, they call it tropical...call it what the hell you want - if you like house, techno, dubstep, UK funky or indeed dancing to anything at all then you wanna be getting down to this man.

Returning to the RD hotplate for the first time since last August, it's damn good to welcome back Juliun c90. Pirate radio veteran, mainstay of the c90 clubnight, and producer of gnarly Gameboy beats as Bitslap, Juliun's been repping low-end future music in Sheffield for over a decade. Over the past few years he's lined up the likes of The Bug, Digital Mystikz, Jammer and Actress, and he rocked the Warp 20 VIP room last September. His blazing DJ sets take in garage, grime, Detroit, booty bass and all points between...

Ready and waiting to fire up the bassbins, the RD residents will getting excitable from the outset, popping out a selection of house, techno, baile funk, cumbia and anything else to hand that'll make the floor bounce.

And it's still just three quid people. Or gratis if you can get there before 11pm...

Just over a week til this one drops, massively excited to get Bok Bok up here for his S-town debut, the guy knows his stuff and is at the epicentre of the UK house/bass/broken beat explosion - and if he isn't making it/remixing it, Night Slugs is probably going to be releasing it and/or booking it.....

Here's a few more mixes, a little older but still freshhh:

BOK BOK MIX FOR LUCKYME, JUNE 09

BOK BOK MIX FOR DISCOBELLE, MARCH 09

p.s. The Zshare download option was still working for the second one last time I checked...
