GinTreeS7 Posted August 27, 2018 Share Posted August 27, 2018 I do think finally that things are changing for the better in Sheffield and it may soon have a gay scene comparable with other big cities in the region...see here: http://www.thegayquarter.co.uk/who-we-are There are some more bars, and even a Sauna! soon in the offing ... I think its something to do with the conversion of the whole block that Dempseys is situated in. I'm not sure if the owner of Dempseys owns the whole block also but they seem to be working with and not against the new bar, Queer Junction. It also seems to be boosting local jobs and no doubt trade also when they are all open ... GinTreeS7 Posted April 1, 2019 Share Posted April 1, 2019 I sympathise with the attack in Queer Junction a few weeks back - not sure if it was homophobic or not or just some ******** customers, and it has set them back a bit in their plans to open more gay venues in the quarter, but glad that QJ is open as usual again now and soldiering on while the venue damage is repaired. GinTreeS7 Posted October 19, 2020 Share Posted October 19, 2020 I've not been yet, but good to see that Dempseys has finally reopened and on a recent visit there it felt totally Covid secure and safe. Also concerning Covid, it was good to see that DINA venue which has often done LGBT events in the past, have received support money to keep going through the pandemic crisis.
