I'd recommend the Kashmir on Spital Hill for great value, Butlers Balti House on Brook Hill for pretty much anything, and East West on Abbeydale Road if you go to a lot of Indian restaurants and want something a bit different - they sell south Indian and Sri Lankan specialities. I will put in a second vote for East and West. I have just been there for a lunchtime curry blow-out. Cashew nut pakoda and "wok fried lamb chunks" (can't remember the Tamil name for this but the translation does it no justice!) washed down with salt lassi. Fabulous although a trifle warm.
