AmourDesign
Dont be fooled... Conveniently as always, this announcement of a tiny bit of progress has arrived just before local elections in May. This is a common occurrence if you look back at the history of this 10 year failure
Jonny5
They have no partner announced. The pace of the Grosvenor demolition ahead of the rest of the scheme suggests they have someone who is interested.I'm sure there are plenty of developers "interested" but until they have signed plans and signed up developers (with a professionally drawn up schedule this time) they don't have anything. Don't forget that they moved the new Fire-station as Hammersons work on 7S was all-set. If they were even semi-sure of anything I'm certain we'd have been seeing thumbs-up photos of Bramhall/Dore/Cronies by now.
smiggs
Dont be fooled... Conveniently as always, this announcement of a tiny bit of progress has arrived just before local elections in May. This is a common occurrence if you look back at the history of this 10 year failure I agree that this is just a holding statement, but their original move was quick and decisive enough to convince me that they have something up their sleeve. However this is the office block section with a small selection of shops underneath. The ultimate fudge will be when the product of all these years of failed retail development is an office block. crookedspire
Instead of a clean sweep wholesale demolition of the area why not reuse the better buildings and replace the ugly with quality new builds. The project might have more of a chance in going forward than the standstill we have present. Independent shops could work well in the smaller units and new paving like what's been already done on the Moor?
cityspinner
They have no partner announced. The pace of the Grosvenor demolition ahead of the rest of the scheme suggests they have someone who is interested. There's always interested parties. The demolition is going ahead because of the cost of maintaining an ever-rapidly deteriorating site.

Jonny5
whos that Dore of which you speak ? could it be our invisible leader ? but ignore me ,apparently I am in denial of all the great work which is being done Don't get me wrong, Julie Dore is useless. But the real leader of the council is John Mothersole. What he brings to the table is incredible skill at doing nothing but making sure that he and his tasty salary are unknown and unquestioned What he does for Sheffield and it's people I'm not quite sure. But I'm sure that one of his droogs will be along soon to tell us.
