Interesting reading on point 1, page 1

"The development shall begin no later than 3 years from the date of this decision"

Was that in the Hammerson contract? Doesnt look like it was.

It was 5 years from the decision date (November 2006) - so it's still lapsed.

Edit: Sorry, ignore that. That was for a demolition of a building. There doesn't seem to be any time limit on the main development as CS said. Good job really I suppose.

An appalling reflection on how SCC have handled the city centre over the last decade or two.

You can blame the recession/Tories/Meadowhall all you like but for the 4th/5th largest city in the country to not be in the top 50 for retail? Well, its embarrassing isn't it?

It is, but not at all surprising. Most Sheffielders are tight by nature, so they lead you to believe on here, so it doesn't come as a surprise that this city doesn't have any decent quality shops and is only dotted with cheap shops.

You can't really use that as an excuse though: don't forget we're supposed to have one of the wealthiest constituencies in the country, so it's hard to see them being quite so tight. Mind you, it's also hard to see them going to Sheffield city centre to shop...

Sevenstones won't be in Sheffield Hallam!
