Longcol
But the fact remains it is still tax payers money being wasted weather that be £1M or £250 ,and the council must be accountable for EVERY penny as its not their money they are frittering away on their pet schemes. They are accountable in a number of ways - and ultimately at the ballot box. And do you know any organisation, especially ones with a turnover of over a billion, that shows its accounts to the penny these days :hihi:

The problem here is that what you might regard as "waste" or "pet schemes", is not looked on in the same way by the decision makers, the Councillors. The Council is involved in a huge range of activities involving all of the community. None of us are ever going to agree with absolutely everything that is done. That doesn't mean the money is wasted.

Of course its not , the suits in the town hall arnt going to admit to wasting money like the 30K they squandered trying to defend in indefensible when NEXT appealed the planning refusal. Or the £1M they plan to waste on the "Fairness Commission " in order to find out that Dore is more affluent than Pitsmoor. ---------- Post added 25-07-2013 at 22:17 ---------- any news yet from the high and mighty of the sheffield council ? Yes, the council have announced that they are hiring the Chuckle Brothers as consultants to oversee the ongoing negotiations with Sevenstone to see if they can do a better job than the current council . I think the key sentence in the quote from Hammersons - "We have been extremely encouraged by the support we have received during the planning process" See what happens when the Council tries to facilitate rather than hinder.
