I really do think sheffeild council should concentrate on making the city centre an attractive place to visit for leisure, entertainment, eating out,and pleasure and leave the shopping and retail to the people who know what they are doing .........Meadowhall.

I did read something the other week about how much sheffield council wasted on consultants , but it wasnt that article. That star article makes interesting reading .

Why do you consider money spent on consultants to wasted?

If an important institution like SCC need to use consultants, then they need to look again at the staff they have, and think about employing people with the relevant skills to run the city. Thats why consultants are a waste of money.

I would like to think that the council would only use consultants sporadically when they need specialist advice that is not available 'in house'.

This should avoid employing specialists on expensive wages when their knowledge and skills are not needed on a daily basis.

If the consultants being used are on full, long term retainers/contracts then that is where the council needs to reconsider there use.

  • 4 weeks later...

Its now time for scc to kick the hammerson time wasters into touch. They have lost all credibility in my view. They are building elsewhere but have no intention of taking this forward. If action is not taken now by telling them to get lost we will get some similar bull**** in two years time. Scottish widows are getting on with things maybe its time these complete fob off merchants are replaced. Yes its difficult times but other smaller projects could have gone ahead if we hadnt been waiting for these timewasters.

Same old story. Not really suprising with the council we have.

They have been in progressive talks though - in which no progress has been made other than to delay it for another year. If it wasn't so ridiculous I would say its a disgrace.

Is there any wonder the city centre looks the way it does.
