Here we go again.

The council are threatening to go elsewhere and find another developer if Hammerson wont commit by the end of May.

http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/business/build-it-or-bust-sevenstone-ultimatum-to-hammerson-1-5690641

John Mothersole, council chief executive, said: “The council is engaged in intensive discussions with Hammerson which will hopefully confirm the new retail quarter is being brought forward.

“We can’t rule out the possibility agreement cannot be reached in the near future.

“In which case we cannot wait, and will have to move on with an alternative approach.

“We do want to deal with Hammerson and hope the near future will see a conclusion.”

Now has he forgotten that Hammerson own most of the properties on the land where Sevenstone was to be built after they were compulsively purchased by the council and signed over to them. So no other developer can be found while Hammerson own the properties . Do the council have the money to compulsive purchase them back from Hammerson. ?

This farce just gets more embarrassing by the day.

Nick Clegg brands Sheffield City Council 'anti-business'

Sheffield could miss out on nearly 2,000 new jobs because of the council's "anti-business" attitude, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has claimed.

Writing to council leader Julie Dore, he said her policies were "providing a barrier to new jobs and opportunities".

Mr Clegg highlighted the stalled Sevenstone project and "lukewarm reception" to IKEA's proposed move to the city as areas of concern

I also noticed that the public inquiry and appeal against the councils planning refusal into the NEXT home and Garden store begins tomorrow

The ultimatum comes as the date is set for Next’s public inquiry into plans for a home and garden store near Meadowhall.

The scheme was refused planning permission by the council, in case it affected Sevenstone.

The inquiry, starting tomorrow and headed by a Government planning inspector, will consider an appeal against the council’s decision.

This is in the same article ,but i can`t find the NEXT megathread to post it in there.

The talks have gone from 'crunch' to 'intensive' in 5 months :hihi:

Yet another press release from the council basically saying we don't know what is happening.

I'm no fan of Nick Clegg but at least he is highlighting SCC's bizzare

behavour towards potential investors in the city. Maybe he could pick Julie Dore up on her personal presentation after turning up to Downing Street to represent us looking like a homeless bag lady.
