SURVIVAL – Audio Tactics, DNAudio

Surfacing under the guises of Akustic Research and Banaczech on Vinyl Addiction and Partisan Recordings in 1995, Steve Kielty parted company with co-conspirator Roy McCabe and after a long break from drum & bass re-emerged as Survival in 2005.

With a plethora of well received releases on labels including Creative Source, Exit Records, DNAudio, Quarantine, Critical and Shogun Audio, Survival’s deep, organic sound has rapidly earned him a reputation as one of the true craftsmen of modern drum & bass.

Collaborations with D-Bridge, Break, Silent Witness, Fierce, Sabre, Chris Inperspective and Zero Tolerance clearly illustrate the respect he commands from his peers and with his newly launched Audio Tactics label providing a focused outlet for his productions his fan base is expanding as rapidly as his discography.

MATRIX - Metro / Viper / Virus / Prototype

Matrix a.k.a Jamie Quinn forged an early path into the drum and bass scene with innovative releases on DJ SS's New Identity Recordings before launching his own Metro imprint in 1997. His seminal debut long player, 'Sleepwalk' on Virus showed that there was more to this producer than simply the 12" format and his remixes of tracks like 'Medicine' (Ed Rush & Optical), 'Phone Call' (Klute) and Kirsty Hawkshaw's 'Leafy Lane' have become timeless classics. In recent years he's also climbed to the top of the pop charts as part of the Goldtrix production team with 'Trippin (It's Love)' going on to add the likes of Tony Braxton, Annie Lennox and Robbie Williams to his growing remix credit list.

Along side a hectic worldwide DJ schedule, 2005 saw Matrix team up with Liverpool based producer Futurebound resulting in the massive 'American Beauty Remix'. Played relentlessly by everyone from Andy C to Pete Tong, the track has reached true anthem status and has set the tone for the duo's forthcoming album which is due to be unleashed in March 2007. Combining straight up dance floor devastation with big hooks and soulful futurism, cuts from the album are already on heavy rotation with those DJs lucky enough to have snagged a copy. The first single from the album, 'Universal Truth'/'Skycraper' is set to drop in November and proves why Matrix is one of a small handful of djs and producers to have maintained a position in the premiere league of Drum and Bass for over ten years, and as if further evidence were needed that he is one of the hardest working producers in Drum and Bass, Matrix is also featured on several tracks on Ed Rush & Optical's album, 'Chameleon'.
