proudmummy17
Hello! My son and daughter bought home information about Fusion Youth Theatre at City Limits Studio on a Sunday morning. I've had a look at their website and it looks pretty good - looks like you get a lot for your money, but just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them and what they thought? My son is 7 and my daughter is 13. They both really like dancing and have been in school shows etc, but I would like to get them involved in something more professional. Thank you! duckweed
Have you thought about Sheffield Theatres Youth section? They have great cheap workshops run by professional directors. If you are on low income you can even get a grant to cover the cost. My son has been doing them for years. They have a summer course this year. proudmummy17
Hi duckweed. Thank you for your response. I've looked into them before, but I'm more after something more inclusive with the portfolio and recording as well as the classes if that makes sense? Just wanted to check that they deliver on their promises, as the promises are fairly grand! Jane
baliyce
Fusion does indeed deliver on its promises. There's already been one photoshoot and visits from LAMDA. All the children there seem to enjoy it and are definately getting something out of it!
hriley1987
Hi proudmummy17, My name's Heidi and I'm a co-founder and one of the drama teachers at Fusion Youth Theatre. I want to assure you that we do keep our promises -however extravagant you think that they might be! We've already had our first recording session and have more sessions every Saturday this term! The students have just received their first portfolio shots on disc from the photo shoot. Last term we had lots of specialist workshops :- A LAMDA Stepping workshop, a Blood Brothers workshop, a Stage Combat workshop and a Physical Theatre one - All this on top of our regular dance, drama and singing classes! We're now starting rehearsals for our show, a musical called London Road, that will take place on 22nd and 23rd July. On a sidenote... baliyce - I am assuming you are a parent of one of our students? If so, please let me know who you are so I can thank you!
longrat
I'd like to confirm what Heidi said in the previous post - my eldest goes there and my middle daughter is on the waiting list for September (we hope there is a place) The folks that run the class are BRILLIANT - they deliver exactly what they say - we would recommend it for any parents looking for a broad spectrum of dance / music and drama
