 Yeah... I don't really 'do' tactful very well! :hihi:

I was just trying to point out for the OP's own benefit, that it is very important when trying to publicise a business, to write clearly like an adult otherwise it comes across incredibly unprofessional... and all you'll get is a whole load of negative comments and pi55-takes (as proven above ;))

Hardly!! If you were doing it for the benefit of the Poster, surely you would have done it via PM.

THE ORIGINAL POST WAS NOT POSTED BY THE OFFICIAL SANCTUARY TEAM.

We no longer do this offer on a Thursday Night due to changes in the law which took effect as of the 6th April 2010.

However every Thursday is our new cheap drinks night, where we offer selected drinks for £1.20, such as House Vodka + Mixer or Bottles of Bud. From 9pm till 1am.

We also serve food from Midday till 7pm. Monday- Saturday.

Here is the Act......

Licensing (England & Wales only) - Licensing Act 2003 Premises Licence

Mandatory conditions taking effect from 6th April, 2010

These conditions state that

 It is the duty of the responsible person (the DPS) to take all reasonable steps to ensure that staff do not carry out, arrange or participate in any irresponsible promotions in relation to the premises

 An irresponsible promotion is one that encourages the sale or supply of alcohol that is contrary to the 4 licensing objectives.

The following will be banned:

 Providing unlimited/unspecified quantities of alcohol for free or for a fixed or discounted fee (other than where the drink is included in the price of a table meal)

 Providing free/discounted alcohol or anything else as a prize to encourage/reward drinking alcohol over a period of less than 24 hours

 Providing free/discounted alcohol in connection with watching a sporting event which depends on the outcome of the event/the likelihood of anything happening or not

 Selling alcohol related to advertising material on or near the premises which could be thought to encourage or glamorise anti-social behaviour or refer favourably to the effects of drunkenness

 Drinking games that encourage the drinking of a certain quantity of alcohol within a given time limit or drinking as much alcohol as possible

 Drinking games (including pouring alcohol into a person's mouth, unless that person is unable because of a disability to drink without help).

Government guidance on what constitutes a promotion that would be considered irresponsible is not yet available but it is expected that the following would be included

"Speed drinking" competitions

Drink a bottle of wine between 6pm and 8pm and we'll give you an extra glass free

Nurses drink free

Collect 10 one pint loyalty points today and get the eleventh free

All drinks £1 if Chelsea score in the first half, etc.

You're more likely to pull with your beer goggles on

The list is not exhaustive and the Licensing Department will work with Marketing to ensure that all national promotions comply with legislation.

N.B. Please note that, in addition, with effect from 6th April 2010, free tap water must be provided on request to customers where it is reasonably available.
