Halibut
I hear on the six o' clock news that Mr Brown the Prime Minister has described mephedrone as 'evil'. This comes in the wake of the goverments knee jerk respponse to ban the drug before it's safety can be properly explored. How depressing that a supposedly intelligent and respected public figure can make such an asinine remark.

Tony
Did they manage to announce a ban before the toxicology reports were back as per our discussion the other week?
Wildcat
Did they manage to announce a ban before the toxicology reports were back as per our discussion the other week? They can't just announce a ban, a properly constituted Scientific Council needs to advise on it too (something the resignation of the 6th Scientific Adviser, may well have scuppered prior to an election) : "The Liberal Democrat science spokesperson, Dr Evan Harris, said that the decision should wait until the council was "properly constituted" again." http://ekklesia.co.uk/node/11632 Perhaps, politicians should learn to listen to their advisers, rather than just pandering to tabloid hysteria? Tony
Agreed. It would also be nice if the Dpt of Health or the Home Office made the relevant announcement (when appropriate) about their area of responsibility rather than Gordon Brown.
