Theres a monastary about a mile from here and they just LOVE ringing their bloody bell at 4am every day and its always loud enough to wake me from my peacefull sleep of the sweet and innocent! They could replace that BOING!!! with something soothing, like the gentle hooting of a baboon or maybe the sound of a whelk shell being cracked by a black backed gull or something.
