THE VORTEX (Featuring Bonehead from Oasis!) @ SHEF UNI MAY 16TH

One of the founding members of Oasis, Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs will be coming to the Union with his new band The Vortex on May 16th.

Bonehead was the guitarist in Oasis for 8 years between 1991-1999, during which time the Manchester band released the albums 'Definitely Maybe', 'What's the Story Morning Glory?' 'Be Here Now' and Bonehead left the band during the recording of 'Standing on the shoulders of Giants.'

Nowadays, Bonehead is concentrating on his band The Vortex, despite Liam Gallagher paying tribute to him at the Brit Awards recently.

Liam thanked Bonehead during his acceptance speech after Oasis won the Best Album of the past 30 years for What's The Story Morning Glory. (Before throwing the prize into the audience!)

Bonehead said: “I knew we'd won the award and I knew Liam was going along, but I didn't know I'd be getting a mention. I'm pleased though – I was involved in that album after all.

But while Bonehead remains mates with Liam he's ruled out ever rejoining Oasis. He's now busy recording an album with his new band The Vortex, with a European tour planned in April.

He says: “Even if I was asked to go back to Oasis I wouldn't do it, even if I was offered £5mn, because I'm totally, totally focused on The Vortex now. I'm glad Liam is going to carry things on though.”

Here is what the press have to say about The Vortex:

"While Liam Gallagher mouths off about Noel, their old bandmate, Bonehead - has been cracking on with new band THE VORTEX. They are doing a sellout show at the Manchester Academy tomorrow. An album is out next year. THE SUN - Dec 09

“You can always put your trust in Manchester music and the Vortex are set for big things, they've been setting their controls for the heart of the northern anthem as if Kasabian never existed. Plus, the new demos have been surpassing all expectation: pure anthems for party people. ALAN MCGEE (writing in The Guardian)
