HayleyJayne
Hello Forumers... We are off to Barcelona for the second time this year... we are staying inbetween Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter and are about 20 mins walk from the beach!! We only saw the centre last time and we want to go exploring, try out the complicated metro system and see more... Any places you have been you could recomend? Tips and advice?? x
chinaski
Have lunch at Cal Pep, one of the best tapas places. http://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_directory/restaurants/tapas/cal_pep
the_rudeboy
The metro system isn't complicated so don't worry about that. Sagrada Familia is a must. I'd also recommend Mont Juic and Parc Guell. All these are a short ride on the underground from Las Ramblas.

Barcelona aquarium is good, Visit Montjuïc by night to get a fabulous view of the city all lit up below. By day Palau Nacional (National palace) has great views of the city. As for the metro system, it's simpler than Paris or London's underground. Buy a seven day pass as it works out cheaper than separate journey tickets. If you want "hidden" treasure though, I suggest you take a walk outside of the city centre off the tourist trail and find a local restaurant where the natives hang out.
