emmaggreen
Hi there We have bought a house with a fridge freezer stuck in the cupboard under the stairs. We've taken the doors off but still can't get it out. We think the floor has been raised after the fridge was put in there. Apparently there's all sorts of screws all over it so we could take it apart but wondered if anyone has some advice about safety matters please? I don't want to flood the cupboard and kitchen with toxic fumes! Thanks very much for any help Emma

eckerslike
Freon isn't particularly toxic although it does destroy the ozone layer. The proper way to dispose of it is to get a fridge engineer to remove the freon before you break up the fridge. Just one other thing. Don't smoke anywhere near the fridge whilst it is being drained. Breathing freon through a fag produces mustard gas which certainly will kill you.
