Help, interview at sheffield council tomorrow!

Hi guys i have an interview at sheffield city council tomorrow, and not being from sheffield i wondered if anyone could give me any advice? what's the dress code??? do i have to wear a suit or will i be ok with cardi and skirt? has anyone else been interviewed by city council? it says on the letter i will have to undertake tests, but it doesnt say if typing/psychometric or anything---anyone have any guesses?! As you can tell im poohing myself! any general advice would perk me up!

As a general rule of thumb you don't go far wrong with office conservative.

 

Dress for the job - if it's office work I'd go for the suit. If you get the job you can dress to suit then.

 

Whatever tests you're given it's too late to worry about now so just relax and do what you can with them.

tip for you - make a list of the essential and desirable criteria they are looking for and keep it discretely where you can see it. Make sure that you get in everything that they are looking for whether or not they ask you about it or not - be a bit of a politician!!

Dress code depends on the type of work but I would always try and err on the side of being too smart, rather than too casual. I once had an interview where I was wearing a suit and the interviewer was wearing shorts and sandles. I got the job :)
