iansheff
I know the authorities have acknowledged the arrest was a mistake but doesn't this just hightlight the compensation culture. I wonder how long before something similar happens over here. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8602327.stm
Chris_Sleeps
A judge that awards $1m compensation would have to work hard to justify it, but i don't think she is wrong to push for it. What happened to her was stupidly excessive, to the point of lunacy.
scoop
She'll not do that again in a hurry. Neither will her friends. Maybe it wasn't such a bad mistake by the coppers after all.
cressida
I hope she gets compensation, but not that much - compensation v humiliation This shouldn't have got to the police at all IMO
HeadingNorth
A judge that awards $1m compensation would have to work hard to justify it But it isn't the judge, unless things have changed over there. A jury decides on the level of compensation; then the police appeal against a stupidly large level of compensation and an appeal judge reduces it to something sensible. That's usually the course of events.
Forumosaurus
She broke the law, criminal damage, I don't see the problem? If I was to go around defacing furniture I would expect to be arrested.
TylerXIII
couldn't they have just told her to clean it off?!

Tess
I can't blame her for suing - i'd be tempted too. You would think some common sense would have been used by the arresting officers before hauling the girl down to jail. Although she has got very high expectations if she honestly believes she will receive that amount.
04jessops
If it'd been written 2 days earlier, I'd have said that the article was definitely an April Fools joke.
