boyfriday
either way its a reputation and its enough for some people to base a view on be it right or wrong. Gay people are seen as being more promiscuous (sp?) by alot of people. They can see them however they like but they can't act on their preconceptions towards gay customers if they're running a business, thankfully. but they obviously can because they do But even if that were true, what difference does it make? People go away on holiday, have a few drinks, have a good time and have sex with their partners or others-even heterosexual Christians do that! If I owned a guest house and anybody was being 'promiscuous' in my view then I'd ask them to leave, unless of course they were happy to be filmed for my porn collection

boyfriday
I have always found it confusing that you are not allowed to discriminate, but you can advertise rooms operating a 'no-smoking' establishment or 'pet-free'. There's blatant discrimination and then there is the more subtle variety. and likewise pet owners would be allowed to stay, just not to bring pets. Thats a good point- it's an animal being discriminated against, not a human being.

harvey19
It seems that no one would have minded if the owners had lied about the reason they did not want these guests. Is this what we have come to in this country ?

Is this what we have come to in this country ? I think the important point is that you cant mind the reason if it's one that's justifiable, whether it's true or not-the lie is a matter for the conscience of the liar-not the recipient of it.
