JFKvsNixon
Here we go then ladies and gentlemen, it's finally going to happen finally happen. Tomorrow our Prime Minister will go to the Queen and ask her to dissolve parliament and call a general election on the date that most people guessed, Thursday 6th May. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8603591.stm Is the next government going to be Labour, Conservative or will it be a hung parliament with all the uncertainty that surrounds that? I'm going for either a very small Tory majority, or a hung parliament with the Tories the largest party.

Berberis
This election will see the rise (of a few percent) of the 'other' parties. Labour - Down Tory - Up Lib Dem - Up Green - Up UKIP - Down Socialist Labour - Up BNP - Up BNP voter share will increase significantly and will show a rise in the south as well as the north, although significant, their result will still fall short of coming close to electing a member of the house of commons. Labour will see the largest overall drop in support of any party.

HeadingNorth
What if she says "no you cannot dissolve parliament you big hairy ****"? The reverse was more likely to happen - if Brown forgot, or refused, to call an election by the end of next week the Queen would dissolve Parliament anyway. His time is up. HeadingNorth
My Mum has had a polling card for 6/5/10 for about a week now. That should be for local elections - once again, the general election will be held on the same day.

HeadingNorth
Does anyone know why we always vote on a Thursday? The law was enacted because everyone got paid on Friday, and was therefore most likely to be drunk on a Friday and most likely to be sober on a Thursday. The law is still on the books, and there's no really pressing need to change it.
mj.scuba
What if she says "no you cannot dissolve parliament you big hairy ****"? What if she says "about time we disolved parliament, I'll have 646 barrels of acid delivered by the end of the week".
