Why did Brown have to 'ask' the Queen's permission to call an election ?

Recommended Posts

Indeed. Clinging to a tradition that makes no sense is silly, in my humble opinion. We're all equal in this democracy, are we not?
some are more equal than others ,the establishment is what keeps britain as it is ,the best country in the world

it must be as everyone seems to want to live here

Well getting rid of the broadband tax was the last thing they should have done, it was at least innovative if not properly implemented and a little change in it might have seen it come in, instead bottler brown (i like that) and his cronies have gotten rid to try and get the vote....pretty pathetic.

They got rid of it because either

a) the other parties wouldn't support it

and/or

b) there was other more important legislation to get through and so this had to be dropped because time had run out

but don't worry, mr brown and his new government will be able to re-introduce the bill after they win the election
