No tax is the only fair way.

That was an assumption on my part, however it is a pretty safe assumption as I couldn't see many private businesses wanting to take up the hassle of running a health service without making a tidy profit.

So, non profit making organisations are foreign to you?:loopy:

You would want non-profit making organisations running the counties vital services? Existing non-profit making organisations, or ones made specifically?

Of course, insurance services currently administered by the state in the form of tax can, in theory at least, be outsourced to co-operative and mutualist organisations, which was the original libertarian position (gradually minimise the role of state and private institutions as far as possible).

Is this essentially what you're proposing? It requires a government dedicated to progressive decentralisation of power. Not an easy task given the number of stakes involved in the maintenance of the status-quo.

I would like to see nationalisation reintroduced. Privatisation does not work.Nationalisation was introduced to banks quite recently,

Ok, but how does this fit in with your previous statements about fair societies with no taxes, and where does the money come from to nationalise everything without taxes?

Meanwhile, let's go back to the case of the baby whose mother dies in childbirth and whose father was already dead. How does he survive for the first eighteen years of his life if there is no government funding for him? Is it fair that he is just left in a dustbin to starve to death?

Depending on your definition of fair, maybe it is. The baby has contributed nothing to society so maybe society should contribute nothing to the baby. On the other hand, whlie this is arguably fair, I don't think you'll find many people willing to accept that it is a good thing.

So your house is burning down, it's spreading to other properties but the firefighters will only show up and save your life if you've paid insurance.

Some people should engage brain before starting stupid threads.
