yowzer
I was in there in 1976 for quite a long time, I did not get any hassle from the staff in fact i used to see one of the staff who used to drink in the Bay horse at pitsmooor, we always chatted and had a pint. bert1936
Hello, me and my brother were sent there in 1947 aged 11 and 13 for steeling 2 milk tokens off a step, I remember the Cammocks they were both evil people but she was worse than him, she'd hit you for nothing as you passed her. I was strapped once for talking in the dorm, we were only there about 3 weeks we were moved on to Aycliffe in Durham then on to Axwell park in Blaydon just outside Newcastle and stayed there until I was 15 , too far for any visitors. If you thought Shirecliffe was rough it's a good thing you didn't go to the other 2 !
