jeffro
 does the sandman come and drop one in your mouth in the middle of the night? discuss........
kered9
It really depends on what you have eaten and whether you floss reguarly. Traces of meat and traces of sugar are the biggest promoters of morning poo breath. I floss at least once a week, brush night (and morning!) and do not eat sugar puffs for breakfast because they make your breath smell like poo all day... even if you brush after eating them! (please not, brushing after eating is not recommended, as the sugar temporarily weakens your enamel, making brushing harmful.)

libuse
And when did you last get your teeth checked? A rotting tooth can smell quite foul even before it starts hurting you
Guest
Morning dog breath is due to reduced saliva flow overnight. Even the healthiest of mouths smell rough after a night's sleep. If the whiff sticks around post-teeth cleaning, then think about seeing the dentist.
medusa
Do you brush you teeth when you get up or after you have had breakfast? Brushing before eating does your teeth much less damage and reduces the formation of plaque acids far more than waiting for the pH or your saliva to drop as a result of eating and doing it then, whether that's in the morning or any other time of day. lizmachin
 Why does your breath smell like poo in the morning? discuss........ Well I can assure you that mine doesn't. Perhaps you should refrain from licking your dog's genitalia, regardless of how nicely he asks.
Jabberwocky
In my case its because I like to have midnight snacks from the cats litter tray.

medusa
Don't you recommend brushing your teeth after a meal then? If you ask virtually any dentist they will actually recommend brushing BEFORE eating instead, because the removal of plaque bacteria before eating makes the brushing afterwards unnecessary and doesn't do the same damage to the enamel either. Whilst it would appear more sensible to brush after eating, this is just to remove food debris and make the mouth feel cleaner and could be achieved by just rinsing the mouth.
