You're better of meeting people on a site that specialises in a common interest that you love. For example, I have a passion for motorcycles and post on many a motorcycle specific forum. I've met quite a few people this way...

Or join the groups on here you might be interested in... the walkers meet regularly, as i believe the knitters do, i think some of the pet group meet. There's also quite a few people go camping although theres no official group for it. There are a core group who meet at the Showroom for films- that thread is in the film group.

There are several book clubs in town, one at Waterstones in Meadowhall and there are the general meets on here, most notably one at the Harlequin on a Monday.

On f/b there are several groups for meeting in Sheffield - a recent one that has been set up is The love of it North which although not a meeting group as such, has ideas of things to do in the North and links to some groups.

Likewise Sheffield has Spice which isn't a dating group but an events group.

Or you could do, what I have had done to me in the past, and pm someone on here whose threads you like the look of. We went on a girly platonic date in 2006 and are still firm friends now.
