Boddhisattva
OK, I'm in! Age: 21 F Interests: Reading, walking, socialising, listening to music, eating out and the occasional takeaway, films, some extreme sports e.g skydiving & rock climbing etc and especially wanting to go travelling! 5 Words to describe myself: Caring, honest, fun-loving, unpredictable and a bit of a romantic with a little wild streak! (wait, is that six things?) What i'm looking for: Just come out of a long-term relationship so not looking for anything serious at the mo. Just looking to meet new people and have some fun, make new friends both male and female, maybe find myself an ideal travelling partner or someone who shares the interest. Although if Mr Right did come along and sweep me off my feet that would be good too!

spinac
What a strange world this is, everyone's looking ... and no-one's finding! I've been doing some research on this lerv thing ... why is it so difficult? Maybe we put too much emphasis on others to make us complete, rather than loving ourselves and our lives first. Maybe we don't take risks, give too little and expect too much ??? Here's a selection of quotes to make you think ... but beginning with a few funnies (All quotes from http://members.tripod.com/~TechBabe/love.html) Love is like a pair of socks; you have to have two and they gotta match. Love is blind and I'm the only idiot who didn't buy a cane. Love is blind deaf dumb and stupid. If I ever find that little turd I'm gonna kill cupid once and for all. Remember when love was easy? Good, I don’t either. Alayna Toot When it comes down to it, we all just want to be loved. Jamie Yellin You can look all over for love but you won't find it because you can't see love you must feel it. If you wished to be loved, love. Seneca The best thing you could ever do, is love yourself and others. Fill yourself and your life with love first You'll get further on a full tank rather than running on empty and desparately looking for others to fill you up! Loving costs alot but not loving always costs more, and those who fear to love often find that want of love is an emptiness that robs the joy from life. Merle Shan It doesn't matter who you love or how you love. If you are not in love or loving somebody, you are only half alive. Whoever loves true life will love true love. Elizabeth Barrett Browning Love is a force that connects us to every strand of the universe, an unconditional state that characterizes human nature, a form of knowledge that is always there for us if only we can open ourselves to it. Emily H. Sell Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Leo Tolstoy When we love, we always strive to become better then we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too. From "The Alchemist" You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; in just the same way, you learn to love by loving. St. Francis De Sales Love is a special feeling. You can't explain it. Sometimes you cant even understand it. But it is there. So quit makin it sooooooo complicated. And just enjoy it. ---Unknown So here's the choice .... either love your life, live it to the full and find your soulmate on the way or keep doing the same things to find your true love before you start living. Just looking to meet new people and have some fun, make new friends both male and female, maybe find myself an ideal travelling partner or someone who shares the interest. You'll not be looking for long Boddhisattva! Sounds to me like you already love yourself and your life. What is there not to love about you? You are so right Spinac,i have learnt that the hard way over the years , the easiest way to be let down is to rely on others to make us happy......it just doesn't work that way. Being in love can make you feel happy but its a quick fix and doesn't last forever in most cases, the most fulfilling happiness comes from within and comes from giving love even if you do not always get it back, there is so much love around (your children, family, friends, pets) to think that the only thing that can make you happy is romantic love is to sell yourself way short
Boddhisattva
I completely agree, I put way too much dependence on my last relationship for my happiness and when that fell apart so did I. You need to feel happy within yourself rather than relying on other people to do it for you. What hurts you only makes you stronger though as they say! I'm not a confident peson in general but i'd like to think that at some point i'll be comfortable within myself, without needing a partner! spinac
Too right! Go to work on yourself. Do things to make yourself happy. Happiness breeds confidence. Happiness and confidence makes for good friendships. Someone who is happy and confident and has a good circle of friends is attractive! Think of it the other way ... how attractve would you find someone who was miserable, lonely, had no friends and NEEDED you to make them happy? There's a Chinese proverb that puts it like this ... "If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come." I've also read it like this ... "Make happy those who are near, and those who are far away will come." You gotta BE the kind of person you want to attract ... drop the search ... in the words of the song "you can't hurry love" ... it will happen when the time is right and you least expect it.
