One of the best election campaigns I've heard

That is very funny, especially:

TF: Ok, now you're going to cut the number of councillors from 60 to 20.

PD: That is another difficulty. I'm the first to try it.

TF: You can't do it, can you?

PD: Well... we can appeal to their moral consciences.

:hihi:

That is the point though - he doesn't have the power to do that despite pretending he did during his election campaign.

Is it any wonder he got elected with a huge majority when he essentially took a list of things people would support, then declared that he would do them, despite knowing that he would not have the power to do most of them. And if the argument is that he didn't know, then he is unfit to hold office.

You seem to forget that Doncaster Council was mired in scandal for years under the Labour administration. It took years to force the last mayor out of office. The people of Doncaster spoke and elected the current Mayor. There is now a government team taking over the running of the disgraced council.

Whose polices do you think they will pick, the mayors or the left wing rabble they are replacing?

The Government, if they do decide to step in (if the interim Chief Exec isn't able to make some very quick changes..), will work with the politicians who know the limits of their powers...
