Fantasy Island cash machines now charge

Recommended Posts

Been to skegg this weekend and all 6 cash machines in fantasy island now charge a minimum of £1.25 to withdraw YOUR money.

needed some quick cash so i used it, but i will boycott them in future and would rather walk in to chapel village to use co,op`s ..that free...other than that tesco`s and morrisons ....or better still take enough money from home to see you through the day

it might be your money, but its not your machine, you who maintains it, you who fits it, you who pays to fill it etc. The machines are not provided by the banks either which doesn't help.

its rubbish but more and more machines will go this way. There is one in the arcade opposite that is free on the opposite corner of the junction thats still free. I think the cost cutter do cash back as well which is free. But you have to buy something from the shop obviously.

What's the difference between a cash machine in an arcade and a cash machine in the co-op? They both cost the same to install. They both cost the same to maintain and run. How come one charges and the other doesn't.

And if you are drawing out money to use in the arcades then the arcade owner benefits greatly from having a machine to let you draw out cash.

Seems you get to withdraw cash free at a supermarket where you will exchange your cash for goods - thus getting something for your money; but you get charged in arcades to give your money away. Strange!

the machine at co-op will more than likely be provided by the co-op bank and they choose to provide it for customers of there shops / bank to use for free, as most machines that are owned and operated by Banks do. This probably will not last for ever.

The one in the arcade will be rented by the arcade from a private company. Or the cash machine owners will rent the space in the arcade. The machine owners choose to charge for the service, which they are well within their rights to do. Its their machine after all. As a consumer, you have a choice, either use the machine that you have to pay for or don't.

It wrong I agree but ATM machines arent cheap to buy maintain or run. They do it as so many people will use it but it's like renting out a broadband line and whinging when no one pays.

I wonder whether the operators would whinge if nobody went to Fantasy Island?

Tourist resorts usually have tourist prices. - The people who work in them make their money from tourists.

If you work in tourism and you provide your customers with an enjoyable experience most of those customers won't mind paying moderately high prices, but if you 'don't miss a chance to rip em off' then they will soon realise what you are doing and they will resent the way you are treating them.

There's a difference between 'helping a tourist to move around more freely by lightening his wallet' and 'rubbing his nose in it.'

The cash machines in some co-ops are nothing to do with the co-op. Used to work for the co-op so I know. Nothing at all to do with us. Used to have some proper earache off customers who couldn't draw their cash out and had to tell them over and over "We're sorry - you have to get in touch with the number on the machine as it is nothing to do with us."

Arcade cash machines charging you is a con. No matter what excuses you care to make for them - the label still fits - con.
