Private rented house keeping my bond due to mould

Recommended Posts

Yes i do , somewhere with other letters in a black bag in storage.

In that case I'd ask them to reconsider, and if that fails then explain that you would rather someone impartial ruled on the matter.

Then go to http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk

Personally, from what has been said, it sounds like a blag now they're not getting anymore money off you.

Aren't bonds supposed to be held by a third party these days?

Yes they are and if they are not then you can go to court and reclaim 3 times the amount of the bond.

I just moved from a private rented house and they are keeping my bond due to mould.

I informed the company Lighthouse Lettings that i had mould. The inspector came out and said fine just keep wiping it.

Now i have moved out the keeping my £375 bond due to mould damage and damp to redecorate the flat.

They told me i should have kept the windows open , keep in mind this was over the winter period.

Is there anything i can do about this as i thought damp and mould wasn't caused by anything i did/do and i removed following instructions given to me.

They are just trying it on. They very probably find some excuse to keep every bond as they are experienced enough to know that lots of people would just let it go. Make a complete nuisance of yourself , threaten to take them to court, phone them constantly and e mail them to death. DO NOT LET IT DROP, you are in the right!

Show them that you are no push over.

Lots of new builds get mould because they are built without adequate ventilation... yes you could have opened windows but it would not have completely solved the problem... threaten with small claims court and read through your contract with a fine tooth comb, if that fails go to citezens advise - dont take no for an answer, they are taking the micky Im afraid.
