What does it mean when a Manifesto states it will consider something?

Recommended Posts

They're not increasing the retirement age, they're increasing the age at which you can draw your state pension. You can retire whenever you want if you can afford to.Life expectancy has increased rapidly over the past 100 years, and many of us will live 20 or more years after reaching state pension age. Wouldn't the option of working longer, maybe part-time, help to give people more financial security in their later years?

But you're right about the 'considering'. It gives them the option to say 'we've considered it, and after much discussion we've decided not to.'

I love that misleading information!:hihi::hihi:

Do you think they are looking for a way out of this commitment, or a way to introduce it knowing it will be unpopular with a lot of people?

Either way, it let's them off the hook. 'Well we did tell you so' would be the answer in either situation.

Don't worry about it. The most significant things about party manifestos are what's left out of them ;)

Increasing longevity and how we deal with it is a worldwide problem.

Of all the people in human history who ever reached the age of 65, half are alive now.

..and let's face it ... whatever party gets in, they MIGHT do one thing that makes us go WOO and WAYYYYY, but come a year or so's time they will say .. Hmm, we tried to do what we said we would but it was because Labour made such a mess of the country that we couldn't do it .. and on, and on .. and on ... and on ....

Politics ... what a load of ****e!
